The Power of Presence

We can easily get caught in the current of everyday life. Shifting to autopilot, we run from meeting to meeting without a still moment. In the midst of attempting to balance our home, work and personal lives we sometimes forget to stop and smell the flowers.

Have you ever found yourself cooking dinner while on a work call but thinking about how you have to pick the kids up from school? This is proof of the lack of presence in your life. Practicing mindfulness can entirely change your daily habits and lifestyle for the better.

Zen Proverbs tell us, “When you’re eating, eat. When walking, walk.” This is the trick. To train your mind to focus on only one thing at a time creates constant presence in your life resulting in bliss and inner peace.

Becoming entirely aware of your surroundings will ground you and bring you to the moment.   “The moment you are aligned with now, you become the space for Now. When you consciously become that space, you are free. The power of Now suddenly comes through you,” -Eckhart Tolle, Practicing Presence in Every Moment of Your Life.

Creating a mindful lifestyle doesn’t have to be a chore. We’ve established 5 tricks to harness the power of present:

1.)    Awareness. Bringing yourself to awareness of your present moment is the first on our list. Observe your surroundings fully. Browse the details around you. Use your senses to smell, taste and feel your surroundings.

2.)    Embrace. Embrace simplicity. Try not to think about the future. Enjoy the little things by embracing what is happening now. If you must prepare for the future, write a list - store it away and get back to your now.

3.)    Breathe. We usually start our mornings with meditation. If you don't meditate, take a private moment to take 3-4 breathes focusing entirely on your breathing pattern. When inhaling say, "I am." When exhaling say, "We are". Repeat this mantra. This is a small reminder that we are one.

4.)    Pause. Every so often, take a moment to pause what you are doing and look around you. Take notice of the time of day, your surroundings, the weather. This brings you back to Earth while offering a moment of solitude and peace.

5.)     Reflect. At the end of each day, reflect on your successes and your struggles. Recite the day. Learn from the day, then move forward. This practice will help you be more conscious the next day.

To live more completely in each moment, we recommend meditating with our CLARITY aromatherapy candle to achieve acknowledgement of your NOW. Namaste friends! View more @ThePureCandle on Instagram.

Creating Chi and Balance

As we open our windows to embrace the fresh spring air, we welcome a new season and release the old. But spring cleaning is more than a thorough scrubbing. For us, spring cleaning is a rejuvenating process that allows us to move forward with clear slates and clear minds. Letting go of winter’s weary-weathered days, we embrace the sunshine and balance our homes with harmony.

Balance seems to be the key to everything. Just as we balance our lives, our diet, and our workload, balancing our home is no different. The spring season is the perfect time to release negativity from our space and invite in new engaging energies. Our beloved practice of Feng Shui tells us that to invite this energy, our home must have a natural flow of chi (the energy of the universe).

Achieving this healthy balance is as simple as 5 steps – bring in the 5 Feng Shui Elements into your home: fire, earth, wood, water and metal. Just as nature recharges our soul, nature’s elements do the same.

The element of wood refers to natural growth and vibrant health. We love to use tree branches, raw wooden shelves (rustic) or bamboo. Try taking a walk on a nearby beach or woodsy area in search of the perfect pieces that you can use for home accents.

Creating high energy levels and fueling passion the fire element fosters the expression of creativity. A great way to introduce this element to your home is with candles and fireplaces. Clusters of candles create a vibrant and relaxing energy while emphasizing the quality “at-home” feel we all search for. Try our aromatherapy candles and our Intentions collection, all made naturally with soy.

The element of earth generates nourishment, stability and knowledge. The best way to welcome Earth into your home is by decorating with cherished crystals, stones or plants. Soil signifies an unspoken respect for our planet.

Cultivating strength, focus, and independence, the metal element is the easiest to decorate with. Using metal vases or unique sculptures and art pieces, metal not only offers curb appeal but an inviting energy for your chateau.

It seems we’re always searching for wealth, abundance and fluidity, and this is where the element of water comes to play. Search for a perfect indoor fountain as a decorative piece. This element instantly changes the mood and atmosphere in your home.

We look forward to seeing how you spruce up your home for spring! To follow our lifestyle of yoga, meditation, feng shui, intentions, aromatherapy and more, follow us on Twitter and Instagram @ThePureCandle

Everyday Meditation with the Founder

There is so much to talk about when it comes to meditation and being mindful. I felt inspired to share how I incorporate both throughout a very busy day.  I start my morning with the everyday hustle of getting the family fed, dressed and there are some mornings, I will confess, when I can’t wait for everyone to leave.  I try to always stop for a moment to look into my daughter’s eyes to ask her, “Who is in charge to make today a great day?” and she smiles right back at me and says, “I am”.  After kisses and hugs, my loving hubby is off to get her to school and I am left with the welcoming quietness of my home and our cute little dog Lula staring up at me.  I take a deep breath and think of the day ahead of me with meetings, phone calls and emails.

Even if you don't have the time to set aside to practice full meditation, these are a few of your everyday moments that you can utilize into a mindful technique each day.

Thankful to make beds

Even if I may not have time to meditate or read something inspiring which is how I would love to start every morning, I take a moment for myself by making the beds and organizing the kitchen. For me, there is something about making a bed and smoothing out all of the wrinkles and creating a neat and fresh invitation for peaceful rest later in the day for your loved ones.  I put a lot of love into it and I also take this moment to practice gratitude, to thank the divine for all of my blessings and to reflect on how good it feels to have some order which brings me peace.

Wash a dish and cleanse your worries

Washing the dishes is a great time for me to practice releasing any negativity.  It feels great to wash every plate and with it, I wash away my worries and negative thoughts. Wiping down the counters gives me a clearer mind and starts the day with a clean slate.

Relaxation can ignite creativity

Showering is my time to become inspired and for some reason, this is where I get my best ideas.  I use some orange or lemongrass aromatherapy and it invigorates me to think over designs for new concepts for my business or supporting my family’s needs.  The steam on the glass is my “whiteboard” where I write and sketch and let my creative energy flow in tune with the water down my back.  I breathe deeply and close my eyes and capture my ideas in a more steady and organized process and relax.

Connecting with nature reminds us to be present

At this point of my morning, cute little Lula is by the door quietly reminding me that it’s time for a walk.  I always leave my phone behind and opening the door, the day invites us with birds singing, blue skies and fresh air.  Even though I am still training Lula, I always honor her needs to stop and smell a scent in the air that is grabbing her full attention, or sometimes it is a breeze or a leaf.  She is reminding me to pay attention to what is around me and how to be present in the moment.  I forget my thoughts, stretch my arms out and do shoulder rolls and notice the trees, squirrels and birds and feel harmonious.

Create expectations and make the day yours

This morning I felt drawn to my Lapis crystal and as I held it in my hand and closed my eyes, I felt it’s strong vibration.  I lit the special rose candle I have that was made by our best candlemaker and started to write down how the end of the day was going to feel.  I am content of all that will be accomplished and I put on some new music I downloaded. Bring on the day!

So, there are moments all throughout the day to stay mindful and re-connect with the inner source within you of peace, love, stability and stillness.  I find that when I can continue this practice throughout the rest of my day, stressful situations just need me to take a few breaths to remind me that everything will work out how it is meant to be.

Create your own ZEN space

Whether you frequently meditate, are an avid yogi, or maybe just like to balance the energy of your home, it's all about creating the perfect ZEN space! We all know that it can definitely be difficult to create relaxation and tranquility in the home with everyone's day to day schedules -- but creating a peace haven in your home really doesn't have to be that complicated. Here's how:

Section off an area of your home that is just for relaxation. Use this area for daily meditation, yoga practice or wind down time with a good book. Zen is purity and simplicity so when creating your space stick with the five senses: sight, touch, scent, sound, and taste. Surround yourself with your comfort items. Perhaps you're a tea aficionado or you love the sound of falling water, include these things in your space. We've chosen Mala beads for touch, tea for taste, Budha for sight, fresh greenery for natural calmness and three of our recommended aromatherapy candles for scent. also recommends to eliminate clutter, remove electronic disturbances, stick to neutral and earthy colors, and add plants to bring more natural to the home. Finding Your Inner Peace

Have you ever been at a point in your life when you felt that your heart could never heal again? As human beings, we’ve all harvested feelings of anger, resentment, guilt and anxiety. We can all say that we’ve had our lows. Those points when you wonder if you will ever find inner peace and love again. But the magical part of life and spirituality is that we rebuild, we grow, and we renew our souls continuously. Somehow, someway, we find the strength we need to keep our hearts open and find peace within ourselves to carry on.

Today we’re digging deeper with our weekly post because we want to share our tips to manifestation, particularly with life’s favored quality: Peace. You may think that attracting qualities into your life and utterly changing how you receive everything is, well, impossible. But it’s not! Rebuilding your spirit is a process but finding your inner peace again is worth it all. As little reminders of what we want more of, we always display our PEACE candle in a prominent place in our home. Begin your manifestation with reflection. Sit in silence and reflect on your life’s biggest challenges.

Reflect. To really conquer negative feelings, recall the situations in your life that have caused you the most stress or anger. At this point, imagine how you would do things differently to prevent negative feelings from occurring. Do not focus on what someone has done to you – but instead focus on how you may have brought a situation on yourself and how you can adjust to keep your peace. Only when you can conquer how you can improve as a person will you truly begin to rebuild in strength. Reflection is important process in harvesting and controlling emotions, it allows you to grow.

Visualize. During your meditation process, usually after your reflection, begin visualization to manifest your inner peace. Select a few of your most peaceful scenes in life, whether it be on a beach, at a cottage by the river or in a tropical forest. They can be scenes that existed in your life, or entirely made up. The important part of visualization is that you allow your mind and body to be entirely still and at peace, but also to refer to your “peaceful place” during future situations of stress. While visualizing, focus on sound and scent. Using your other senses will distract the mind from thought. The PEACE candle was created precisely for this purpose. Made with the luxurious essential oils clary sage and Canadian white spruce, the scent of the candle allows your mind to be strengthened, remaining serene and harmonious.

Renew. Renewing your spirit and filling your heart with peace is the final stage in manifestation. Your goal is to envision the person you want to be. Thoroughly decide how you want to react to situations and learn to be present in each moment. You are renewing yourself to become a peaceful and gentle person. A quote we frequently refer to helps set the bar for a worriless life:

Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no trouble, noise or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things, but still be calm in your heart.

This is the ultimate affirmation for attracting peace into your life. Remembering that you cannot control situations in your life – but you can control your reaction, is the key. You decide how you use your energy.

I am at peace with where I am, where I am going and what has been. I choose to change my life to match my dreams and desires and take action from my still, wise center.

Setting Intentions for 2015

Tips + Tricks to Begin the New Year

Ringing in 2015 can be just as exciting as we’ve made it out to be. We begin to embrace the New Year by looking back. Let’s look long and hard at 2014. What have you accomplished? What were you grateful for? Did you have any challenges? To look to the future and start fresh, looking back always gives us a great sense of optimism and excitement. Though we’re all guilty of setting high expectations for the New Year, resolutions can be accomplished with the right support and tools!

Declutter. Make your way into the New Year by making a little more room, physically and mentally. Wipe your slate clean of the year’s residue. Begin by organizing your closets and handbags, declutter your office and file away all old documents in a storage bin. Make room for the future! The decluttering process allows you to cleanse your mind and make room for new ideas to flow freely.

Reflect. A new journal and agenda is just the tool for setting those New Year’s goals. Beginning a new journal with a reflection of gratitude can help set the tone for the year ahead. Jot down inspiring quotes, visuals and ideas for your year to come. At TPC headquarters, we light our Clarity candle during the reflection process, made with cleansing and inspiring aromatherapy notes of lit sea cubeba and lemongrass.

Visualize. Think about what the end of the 2015 will be like – envisioning the future will help set your year’s goals. Truly visualize. What are you doing? What do you feel like? What have you accomplished?  Working backwards is a technique that can easily allow you to be productive step by step.  Once your goals are set, write them down and make a copy of it and put it up in a prominent place so you read it every day. To take visualization a step further, cut out pictures from magazines or google and print images that support your goals and refresh your vision board in your room or office.  This is all to support The Law of Attraction: think it will happen, see it will happen, believe it will happen…and it will happen!

Setting Intentions. The attraction method is what inspired the creation of the intentions aromatherapy collection. Every day, select an intention that you want to focus on and light that candle and say an intention for it.  For example, if you are tired and unmotivated, light Inspiration made with energizing aromatherapy of spearmint and white spruce and say, “It is going to feel so good to have energy today and complete my project”.

Or, if you have an important meeting that day and in need of prosperous energy, light the warming Prosperity candle and say “I am so excited about the success and prosperity coming to me.”

If a resolution is to channel your energy in good health, enjoy our Healthy candle and focus on which area of your body you’d like to heal or improve. While they aren’t magical candles, you will find the magic that is inside you when you set your mind to expect something to happen and believe it will happen.

We’re wishing everyone the most magical and amazing 2015!  Believe in what you can do, expect it to happen and have fun!

Holiday Scents

With the holidays quickly approaching, a sense of excitement fills the air. There’s something about the décor, the energy, the sentiment behind symbols and rituals that evoke a childlike giddiness.

The holiday season, regardless of your beliefs, is an opportunity to celebrate, to gather, to look inward, and to give thanks.

The holiday season is filled with parties and celebrations—it’s exciting, it’s exhausting, but most of all, it’s a cornucopia of CHEER.  Regardless of how run down you get with juggling daily routines and holiday events, there’s something about the spirit of the holidays that is cheerful. And to bring those moments into your home or office, why not light our CHEER candle, which fills the room with revitalizing and cooling peppermint, reminiscent of candy canes other seasonal treats.

Along with holiday cheer, comes holiday merriment. Being MERRY is deliciously unavoidable: grandmother bakes her famous gingerbread, mom bakes the apple pies, someone spikes the eggnog, and everyone guiltlessly indulges. Our MERRY candle perfectly captures the scents and flavors of holiday sweets. When MERRY is lit, the air is filled with a warm, yet citrusy aroma. It’s comforting, sweet, almost tasty.

And with all of the cheer and merriment of the season, we often forget to look inward, and feed our personal joys. JOY is found within ourselves, and adds quality to our lives. To discover your inner JOY, warm our JOY candle, which will calm your senses, and lift your spirits. Lavender, lemongrass, and tangerine fill the room with security and sunshine—the perfect setting to reflect.

As exciting as the holiday season is, it is also stressful. As days get shorter and to-do lists get longer, we forget to be grateful for life’s simple pleasures, and we fail to allow ourselves to experience a moment of PEACE. Uplift yourself and warm our PEACE candle, which will drench your soul in patchouli, clary sage, and Canadian white spruce. PEACE will clear your mind, opening it up strength, serenity, and harmony.

Finally, enjoy the season! Embrace the season for the bounty of gifts that it has to offer: CHEER, JOY, MERRY, and PEACE. Things may not always be perfect, but grasp what you can, and amazing moments await in the New Year.

Harvesting Gratitude

Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers, we more than gain in fruits.
— —Samuel Butler

Nothing tips us off to “new beginnings” quite like the approach of Fall.  The long, hot, adventurous days of summer disappear as children go back to school, temperatures drop, leaves start turning, and most importantly, everyday routines begin to shift.  And as our schedules get hectic and our lives become complicated, we catch ourselves wallowing in misery and focusing on what we do not have enough of: time, money, space.  Instead, let’s shift our thought process, and think about the smallest things we are grateful for.

Gratitude is the embrace and appreciation of life’s simplest pleasures. For some, it is the rustle of leaves, the snuggle of a pet, the laughter of children.  And for me, it’s fitting to say that I simply welcome everything autumn has to offer—it is my absolute favorite season. Temperatures drop, apple orchards are fruitful, grapes are sweeter, ocean waves crash, beach bonfires are abundant, and a certain sweet petrichor lingers through the air.

That earthy, comforting scent that I so love about Fall is perfectly captured by The Pure Candle in their GRATITUDE Soy Aromatherapy Candle, which evokes a woodsy sense of warmth. The GRATITUDE candle has pure essential oils of rosewood and white spruce, which when warmed, fill the room with a grounding, forest-like aroma.

GRATITUDE not only smells great, but also serves as a simple reminder to be grateful for life’s many joys.  Lighting it for a few minutes every day not only perfumes the home, but also allows you to take time to acknowledge and appreciate your blessings. It is a sure way to be thankful for the bounty that us upon us, and experience more happiness by focusing on the positive.

And with a name like GRATITUDE, I feel like this candle would make the perfect gift.  Bring it to a dinner party, to thank the host or hostess for having you.  Give it to a friend, partner, or family member to celebrate their birthday, or simply because they’re awesome. Give it to the neighbor who looks after your home when you’re away, gift it to a mentor to thank them for all of their advice and encouragement.  The GRATITUDE candle is perfect for anyone you appreciate.

Also, with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, this candle will not only smell beautiful, but it will remind us that the holiday is not simply about turkey and football, but also about GRATITUDE, and savoring the simple pleasures of life. Its clean, white lines and classic glass jar, would be lovely blended into any table setting, regardless of decorating style. The soy candles have a cotton wick, and are make entirely with plant-based ingredients, so toxins and other carcinogens are not emitted in the smoke.

Lighting aromatic candles is a great way to change your mood, de-stress, perfume your home, and appreciate life’s little pleasures.

Home Lit Luxuries, without the chemicals!

How often to you stop to read just exactly what is used in your fragrances? So many of our home lit luxuries are entirely compacted with toxic chemicals that can be hazardous to our health. Many candles might say soy on the label, but actually hold a toxic fragrance. You might also notice that some candles will say they are made with a pure essential blend or a natural fragrance. But actually, there is no such thing as a natural fragrance! This burden began an idea for a candle line that is entirely free of toxins and chemicals using one of nature’s purest ingredients--soy. Our candles are made with 100% pure essential oils only, read more:

The Benefits of Soy

While the majority of candles are made from Parrafin Wax, The Pure Candle specializes in hand poured Soy Wax candles. Soy is a natural vegetable wax created from a soybean oil. We prefer to use Soy as a more environmentally-friendly use of candle wax. Not only is Soy a more natural solution, but Soy wax has a handful of alternative benefits:

  •  A cleaner burn. Candles created from soy wax burn cleaner than candles of Parrafin wax. Soy candles are non-toxic so no toxic chemicals are released into the air when burning.
  • Longer Lasting. According to Live Strong, Soy candles typically last longer than a paraffin candle of the same size. The reason behind the longevity of soy candles is the slower burning time and cooler burning temperature of the soybean-based wax.
  • Better Scents. Soy candles are known to hold on to the scents from essential oils. Not only are The Pure Candle products made from soy, but also essential aromatherapy oils. Because Soy Candles burn slower, the scent is gradually released into the air.

Why Natural Ingredients?

When taking notice to frequent sensitivity to scents and products, the founder began to research the many toxic ingredients used in the making of our everyday essentials. From that day forward, an idea was born. The Pure Candle was created with a love for home scents and fragrances without any chemicals included. Containing the purest essential oils extracted from plants dated back to native regions, The Pure Candle was created.

A combination of essential oils and soy wax makes The Pure Candle one of the cleanest and healthiest candles on the market. With only plant-based ingredients and entirely omitting toxins and carcinogens, each aromatherapy soy candle is hand-poured and packaged mindfully and environmentally in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. With one extra bonus: aromatherapy!

The Pure Candle personally engages in the many ways you can surround yourself with calm and peace, a necessity for any business woman! Aromatherapy usage dates back thousands of years ago and the scent is known to uplift and calm your mood instantly.

“Our aromatherapy candles and luxury candles contain only plant-based ingredients, thereby emitting NO toxins or carcinogens.  Each soy candle is hand-poured and packaged mindfully and environmentally in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.”
